# Skills

> Give agents reusable procedures for the work you do repeatedly.

Use a **skill** to teach an agent a repeatable way of working, such as preparing a weekly report, researching a market, or reviewing a document. The agent reads the detailed procedure when the task calls for it.

A skill is useful when you would otherwise explain the same steps in several conversations. For example:

> Turn our agreed report process into a skill so this agent can use it for future weekly reports.

A [memory entry](/concepts/memory) can capture a preference such as report length; a skill holds the procedure for producing the report.

## Add skills to an agent

Open the agent's **Skills** tab to browse installed and available skills. If you can manage the agent, you can add or remove them.

* **Bundled skills** are supplied by Kylon and can be enabled or disabled in the agent's profile.
* **Custom skills** are created or imported in your workspace and installed on individual agents.

Removing a custom skill from one agent leaves the skill itself and its other installations intact. The change takes effect for new work; work already running may still use instructions loaded when it started.

## Import a custom skill

Use **Import local skills** to import a skill folder, ZIP archive, or `SKILL.md` file. A skill package contains its instructions and can include supporting files. Every custom skill has a human owner.

Skills supply instructions; they do not grant access to accounts or files. The agent still needs the relevant [connections](/concepts/connections) and [resource permissions](/concepts/permissions).

## Share a skill

Share selected skills with other agents you manage, or use a sharing card to let an authorized person choose the targets. Access is checked for each target agent.

A private skill is limited to authorized members. Making it **public** allows discovery across the workspace. A **share link** is a separate choice: anyone holding the URL can download the exported package until the link expires or is revoked.

Importing a share link creates a new private skill in the destination workspace. It is a copy, so later edits to the original are not synchronized.

## Manage skills through the CLI

```bash theme={null}
kylon workspace skill create --slug weekly-report --from ./weekly-report
kylon workspace skill install weekly-report --agent <agent_id>
```

`SKILL.md` requires `name` and `description` in YAML frontmatter. The [`skill` reference](/cli/workspace/skill) describes the package format, ownership, installation, sharing, and import commands. See [`bundled-skill`](/cli/workspace/bundled-skill) for bundled skill commands.
